A subtle yet prominent force in the UK spiritual jazz scene, they operate with no rules or borders, often incorporating African and Asian influences.
The project has a prolific catalogue on Brownswood, Home Planet, Jazzman, On The Corner and other labels, with collaborations ranging from US legends Ahmed Abdullah, Idris Ackamoor, Peter Zummo and Phil Ranelin to contemporary visionaries Four Tet and Matthew Halsall.
The latest chapter is Emanative Percussion Trio, a stripped-back ensemble featuring horn and woodwind player Ben Hadwen and percussionist Magnus Mehta, exploring combinations of hypnotic drumming and adventurous improvisation in a soundscape that flows from quiet introspection to euphoric peaks.
Netil Radio residents Petra’s Dream will start the night spinning everything from hard bossa and Ethio-jazz to dub and psych, returning after the show to keep the dancefloor going until late with more rare grooves, global beats, leftfield disco and organic electronic music, all vinyl as always.
